Ghostly Inspirations H is for Hotel #AtoZChallenge 2018

Welcome to my offering for The A to Z Blogging Challenge 2018
My theme this year is Ghostly Inspirations
a collection of spirits that have been prompted by my encounters with places and times. Some are spooky, some more about atmosphere. I'll be describing each inspiration and the phantom that came to my mind, and then I will share a drabble, which I hope will entertain. :)

Disclaimer: The places and experienced I have used for my inspiration are real, but my ghosts and drabbles are complete fiction, linked to nothing and no-one, alive or dead. When writing about my inspirations, I may have changed names and obfuscated specific details to 'protect the innocent' :).

H is for Hotel

Inspiration:
I’ll say now, I don’t have a lot of luck with hotels and ghosts, but this one was not one anyone would expect. I won’t name the place, but it’s a large, posh metropolitan hotel with four floors. Hotels are transient places, people come, people go, and when they arrive, they can bring things with them. If they are lucky, with help, they can leave them behind. I’ll finish by saying that I’ll never stay on the 4th floor of this hotel ever again.

Ghost:
In this case, my ghost has no identity, at least, not one I care to know about. It is interested in people, it watches, it waits...

The Fourth Floor

Derek walked into the hotel bar and scanned the area for his next target: she was sitting at the counter. Long dark hair, petite, just his type. He’d find a way to lift that bowed head. Plastering on a charming smile, he strode on over.

“Good Evening.”

He slipped into the seat beside her. No response.

“Dr Daniel Walker.”

Nothing - he paused - the doctor line rarely failed.

“Drink?”

Last chance.

“My room.”

Her whisper perked up his interest in more ways than one.

“Not shy then.”

She turned. Derek resisted a moment, then sighed. He followed - to the fourth floor.

  2. And poor Derek was never seen again. I don't exactly feel bad for him though.

  4. Oh Derek, you're in trouble now. He has the same taste in women as Derek from Teen Wolf ;) Bravo.

    1. I don't think Derek from TW is as much of a predator as this Derek, even if he is a wolf!
