I was listening to music and watching videos when it hit me. And sometimes, I won't even be trying... I just hear a song and get an idea. Same with music videos.

Or like you, I let my imagination run wild. Ever since I was a little girl, I could just lay in bed and day dream mystical worlds and characters. My actual dreams have inspired some of my best short stories as well. Having a prompt and pressure to post something to a deadline meant many nights in bed, stressing... And I'd have the most absurd dreams, ideas that I'd never think of while awake.

I write horror, fantasy and science fiction. My nightmares are sometimes true blessings :)

Beyond that, I've been inspired by what's happening in the news... Or sometimes just by hearing a name, I build what I think the person would be like and suddenly, I have a world. Sometimes an opening line comes to me and I write and find a story unfolds without me trying too hard.

-Kristen
http://www.kristenduvall.comKristenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00409254503071867624noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3469021061129080712.post-49829649824143151772013-04-14T07:53:23.709+01:002013-04-14T07:53:23.709+01:00I know that feeling of drift-off ideas - I get the...I know that feeling of drift-off ideas - I get them first thing in the morning as well, when I'm starting to wake up properly.

I have a bedside computer rather than notebook, though, because my handwriting is so bad ;P.Sophie Duncanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14768033409563305140noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3469021061129080712.post-83448724413294511542013-04-14T07:51:22.552+01:002013-04-14T07:51:22.552+01:00That's interesting - so it's the associati...That's interesting - so it's the association that sparks things off.

I used to get inspired by song lyrics, but not so much anymore, well not by the main stream pop song lyrics, they're all a bit bland, but there are a load of non-mainstream artists who ca n inspire me. :)Sophie Duncanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14768033409563305140noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3469021061129080712.post-85741370369048380042013-04-14T05:18:20.554+01:002013-04-14T05:18:20.554+01:00I usually get inspired as I'm drifting off to ...I usually get inspired as I'm drifting off to sleep.
